Position Description:
The National Communications Coordinator (NCC) shall serve as the association’s representative to other Michigan schools, the Great Lakes Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (GLACURH), GLACURH Regional Board of Directors and the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). NCC will represent MSU RHA in NACURH Corporate Boardroom as defined by regional and NACURH policy, including holding the placard and all associated rights in all regional and NACURH boardrooms.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Shall serve as a resource to the Executive Board on matters relating to other RHA-like organizations, including but not limited to gathering information from other colleges/universities in the GLACURH region and sharing with the e-board.
- Shall fill out and pay yearly dues at the beginning of the semester for the NACURH Affiliation Guide with the help of an RHA Advisor.
- Shall oversee the selection, development, and operation of all conference delegations. Including but not limited to:
- Appointing conference delegates through an application and/ or interview process. Delegates must be selected at least four (4) weeks prior to each conference.
- Including at least one NRHH Representative for each conference delegation if an active NRHH chapter exists on this campus.
- Coordinating and implementing regular delegation meetings.
- Serving as a resource for delegates in conference-related experiences and responsibilities.
- Holding meetings with conference delegates.
- Shall maintain communication with Michigan schools, GLACURH, and NACURH, Inc. as expected of National Communications Coordinators, including the attendance at conferences, submission of requested reports, participation in processes, and consistent interaction with member schools and regional/NACURH officers/committees.
- Shall maintain our relationship with GLACURH through, but not limited to; interacting with MOWII Monday emails, GLACURH Discord, etc.
- Shall oversee the selection and completion of bids and shall submit either at least one award bid for the regional, national, or business conference each year.
- Shall provide resources, from the national and regional databases, on programming for all RHA members as needed.
- Shall be responsible for collecting and submitting all state and regional OTM’s (Of The Month) awards, if there is an NRHH active.
- Shall select, train, and lead a delegation to the annual GLACURH, NACA, and NACURH conferences. This includes setting all requirements of delegates, such as bringing information back, collecting delegation summaries, attending meetings, etc.
- Shall present to the General Assembly about all conferences attended.
- Shall coordinate and create regular volunteer opportunities for the General Assembly and Leadership Team on charitable/philanthropic events.
- Shall maintain contacts and represent RHA to charitable organizations at the local, state, and regional levels.
- Shall be hired in the Spring Semester and completely take over the responsibilities of this position at the NACURH conference of that year.
- Shall help run elections, in the event the current President cannot, with the help of other Executive Team Members.
- Shall serve as an ex officio in Committees where needed.
- The National Communications Coordinator directly reports to the President.
Must be available for the following:
- Weekly Team Meetings - Mondays 7-9pm
- General Assembly and Committee Meetings - Wednesdays 7-9pm
- Fall Training (one week before school starts) and for welcome week events as needed)
- Spring Training (the day before school starts in spring)
- Attending and volunteering for RHA events throughout the academic year as directed
Hourly: 15 Hours Weekly paid on a bi-weekly basis.

The Chief Publicity Officer (CPO) shall have responsibility and authority to serve as the liaison between the association and media outlets, with the approval of the President, and maintain a favorable public image.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Shall supervise the Director of Creative Services including but not limited to:
- Holding bi-weekly one-on-ones
- Following the supervision plan set by the President and Chief of Staff
- Shall evaluate advertising and promotional programs to ensure they align with PR goals.
- Shall publicize all RHA meetings, hall government events, and caucus events (by request) to the appropriate media.
- Shall assist constituents upon request in creating social media accounts in line with University requirements
- Shall ensure the accuracy of all announcements of events in the media and prepare, with the approval of the President, a press release and/or other media document regarding current RHA issues and events when they are newsworthy to target media.
- Shall ensure contact with news/media outlets who might print or broadcast RHA material such as The State News, by drafting and providing press releases.
- Shall write press releases by gathering pertinent information from sources and arrange interviews with media outlets for artists, keynote presenters, performers, etc. in RHA special events.
- Shall serve as contact person for all media sources, and work with RHA staff to manage RHA’s public image.
- Shall have the responsibility to create and maintain a favorable public image for the organization they represent by utilizing resources and social media to: Promote RHA and connect with others, Social Media PR Campaigns with others, Newsletters updating changes and work done by RHA, Post General Assembly Reports, Public Statements
- Shall re-evaluate communication efforts to determine the best way to reach the public and constituents.
- Shall write and schedule advertisements for RHA or any of its programs on the RHA Calendar.
- Shall create and keep a record of contacts
- Shall help draft public statements, speeches, scripts, or any other official reports to the public given by RHA Leadership.
- Shall organize public relations campaigns for hall governments, committees and other constituents at their request.
- Shall create publications informing the public, constituents, and University of what the organization is currently doing along with updates from our meetings.
- Shall implement changes in RHA publicity including banners, brochures, and information sheets as needed.
- Shall work with outside corporations on promotions and events for RHA, which benefit all on-campus students.
- Shall develop and spearhead a promotional items and promotion of information strategy at the beginning of the Fall Semester, in conjunction with the Director of Creative Services.
- Shall represent RHA at programs that RHA sponsors, or helps to sponsor.
- Shall work in conjunction with the Director of Creative Services to create a campaign in the year of a tax referendum.
- Shall serve as leadership support for the Committee on Diversity and Resident Advocacy.

The Director of Creative Services (DCS) shall have responsibility and authority on all RHA advertising, RHA social media accounts, and other promotional materials, with approval of the President.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Shall design changes in RHA publicity including banners, brochures, and information sheets as needed.
- Shall have the responsibility to create postings for RHA by utilizing resources and media to promote the following but not limited to: Event Advertisement, Constituent Advertisement, Holiday & Celebratory Posting, Resources, event photos, and so forth.
- Shall consult with RHA constituents and committees to assist in advertising and other promotional materials at their request.
- Shall coordinate with DME to promote RHA On Demand campus-wide, movie events and MSUTV.
- Shall assist Director of Special Events in planning University wide events, such as the Annual Spring Concert, and other respective events.
- Shall submit all produced materials to the Chief Publicity Officer for approval.
- Shall maintain current media content on the RHA website and social media outlets in conjunction with the Chief Publicity Officer.
- Shall, in conjunction with the Chief Publicity Officer, meet with the Leadership Team to promote and advertise specific positional services, programs, and or events.
- Shall be responsible for creating event flyers and other materials per request.
- Shall be responsible for designing all promotional items such as clothing designs, logo promotions, and other advertising/promotional memorabilia.
- Shall be responsible for coordinating/maintaining contacts with MSU Printing Services.
- Shall work with the Chief Publicity Officer to establish a promotion strategy at the beginning of each Semester.
- Shall work in conjunction with the Chief Publicity Officer to create a campaign in the year of a tax referendum.
- Shall serve as the Leadership Support for the Committee on Programing.
- The Director of Creative Services directly reports to the Chief Publicity Officer.
Must be available for the following:
